Born on December 28, 1952 to the late Robert Lloyd and Margie Miller Hollar in Caldwell County. He was also a student in the Class of 1971 at Granite Falls High School. Rick was a United Stated Army Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed working on vehicles and loved his dogs very much. After retirement, he lived with his daughter Kelly and Trey for eight years traveling to Fort Bragg, NC twice, Fort Lee, VA and Fort Drum, NY. Rick truly enjoyed living the military lifestyle.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Stephen Hollar.
Survivors include his daughters, Buffy Campbell and husband Matthew of Clarksville, IN, Kelly Hefner and husband Billy (Trey) of Spring Lake; grandchildren, Makayla Hefner, Joshua Hefner, Darren Daniels Jr., Richard Daniels, Jesse Daniels; brothers, Donnie Hollar and wife Carolyn, Monte Hollar and wife Bleaka, Mickey Hollar; niece, Kristy Hollar; nephew, Timothy Hollar and wife Dominique; great niece and nephew, Lincoln Hollar and Sparrow Hollar.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 5: 00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Tom Hunter will be officiating the service.
