Hickory – Robert Lewis Lail, 90 years of age, of Hickory passed away on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at Carolina Caring surrounded by his family.
Born on May 13th, 1933 in Catawba County, NC, Robert was the son of the late Clifford Pinkney Lail and Hettie Huffman Lail. Fishing and hunting was his lifelong hobbies. Robert was the founder of Hickory Tile & Marble Co., American Fence Co. and Lail Insulation Co. He was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Hickory. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Hazel Lail Sigmon, Willa Mae Lail Huffman, Marie Lail Huffman, Anne Lail Propst, and Margaret Lail Deal.
Those left to cherish his memory includes wife Jeanette Duncan Lail, children, R. L. Lail Jr, Cathy Lail Greene, Tim D. Lail, and Kevin Mark Lail. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 with Dr. John Roller officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Advent Christian Church of Hickory in Robert’s name.
