

Bob was born January 26, 1936 in Valdese to the late James Clyde and Louise Warren Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lindsay Williams; granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Bennett; and Betty Lindsay Williams, the mother of his children. Williams is survived by his wife Regina Estes Williams of the home; his daughters Gail Williams Sewell and husband, Mike, of Marion; and Annette Williams of Granite Falls; along with his sister, Eloise Williams Mickle and husband Earl of Valdese. He is survived by two grandchildren, Reid Sewell and husband Brandon Janes of New York and Kelsey Sewell of Marion. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Del Liggett and Robin Pettit and their families. He was employed in the trucking industry for over 50 years before retirement, including Fredrickson for 27 years. He started as a warehouseman and rose to the positions of vice president and general manager for several trucking companies. Williams was the recipient of the trucking industry’s prestigious “Transportation Person of the Year Award” for 1988-89 which was presented by the Blue Ridge Chapter of Delta Nu Alpha, a transportation industry fraternity. At the time of the presentation, he described the honor as “a highlight of my trucking career.”Bob was a private pilot, an avid golfer and HAM radio operator under his call sign K4JQR. He was also a member of the Catawba Valley Traffic Club and the Valdese Lions Club where he served as President. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Catawba Regional Hospice for their compassionate care of Bob over the past two years.
