

Hickory- Ruby Hudson Moses 88, of Hickory, NC went home to be with her Lord, February 24, after a period of declining health. She was born June 23, 1926 to Julius Roland Hudson and Effie Bivens Hudson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Moses Macy of Newton, NC and a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Kanupp of Hildebran, NC. A brother and two sisters also preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 68 and half years, Blaine Ray Moses; a son, James Rayford Moses and wife, Shirley of Hickory; a daughter, Judy Moses Kanupp and husband, Claude Kanupp of Hildebran. She is also survived by two brothers, Ivey Hudson and Fred Hudson, both of Hickory; three sisters, Mary Johnson of Lawndale; Susie Greene of Hildebran and Ossie Swaney of Denver. She has five living grandchildren, Sandy M. Anderson and Tracy of Millers Creek; Johnny Moses and Lori of Hickory; Lori M Watters and Mark of Conover; McGarrett McManus and Brandy of Morganton, and Michael Meyer of Kannapolis. She has eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Ruby was homemaker for years until her children were older, then she began a 20 year work history at Frank’s Hosiery Mill in Brookford, NC. Ruby later worked at Brain Center in Hickory, NC for 7 years. She loved God, family, gospel and bluegrass music and she loved to dance. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Crump officiating. Receiving will be held at 12:30pm with the service following at 2:00pm. Burial immediately after service will be at Mountain Grove Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Hospice of Catawba Valley.
