Ruby C. Spencer

Ruby C. Spencer, 93, of Hickory, went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. She was born August 22, 1922 in Catawba County to the late Holland Van and Ella Kale Cornelius. She was a long time member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Claremont.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Albert Spencer; brothers, Willis Cornelius, and Max Cornelius; and sisters, Louise Martin, Frances Caldwell, Geneva Hasting and Mary Cornelius.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Wanda Spencer, Sandra Walker and husband John, Linda Spencer, Brenda Short and Rhonda Ross; grandchildren, Jason and Judi Walker, Matt and Sherri Walker, Doug and Lindsay Ross, Patrick and Lisa Ross, and Ryan Short; and special nephew, Eric Ballard and wife, Maria; great grandchildren, Hannah Walker, Adeline Ross, Nolan Ross, Spencer Ross and Shawn Walker; and sisters, Doris Grant and Joanne Stone and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2400 Balls Creek Rd, Claremont, NC with Rev. Todd Garren officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers to honor Mrs. Spencer are Jason Walker, Matt Walker, Doug Ross, Patrick Ross, Ryan Short and Eric Ballard.
