Samuel S. Ostrander

NEWTON – Samuel “Sam” Ostrander, 74 of Newton passed away on December 18, 2020.

Sam was born on February 8, 1946 in Gladwin, MI to the late Clayton Riley and Harriet Evilsizer Ostrander. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He served in the US Marine Corps. Sam loved music, arts and crafts, sports, and Hallmark Christmas movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Otis and Neil Ostrander and sisters, Donna Carpenter, Edna Rader, and Mary Monroe.

Survivors include his wife 52 years, Evelene Ashby Ostrander of the home; children, Kevin F. Ostrander and wife Janice of Conover, Samuel Marcus Ostrander of Taylorsville, Cynthia Lynn (Rain) Ostrander and husband Chadwick Dotson of Lenoir, Jessica Renee Justice of Newton; grandchildren, Amanda Ellen Ostrander, Travis Green Ostrander, Megan Renee Chapman, Nathanial Ryan Blankenship, Shannan Isabella (Bella) Justice; great-grandchildren, Lilliana Nichole Ostrander, Kyela Nichole Smith, Zayden Martice Robinson, Zae’Lynn Neveah Trinity Robinson; siblings, Allen Ostrander, Leona Hillman, Dawn Hurley and husband Dent; and numerous other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 5 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.

The Family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 PM-5 PM at the funeral home.
