Scott Sutherland Jr.

Scott Sutherland, Jr., 67, passed away December 24, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born May 8, 1945 in Milburn, WV, he was the son of the late Scott Sutherland and Missouri McReynolds Sutherland. Scott was employed in the food industry as a bread salesman with 17 years of service with the Sara Lee Co. His favorite hobby was fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Sutherland.

Scott is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Barnette Sutherland; sons, Tracy Sutherland and wife Jennifer of Bethlehem, Jason Sutherland and Sarah Coffey of Hickory, Michael Mullins and wife Amy of Hickory, Randy Mullins and wife Hope of Maiden and Scotty Sutherland and wife Glenda of Castlewood, VA; daughters, Patty Mullins and Mike Athey of Conover, and Melinda Lane and husband Dwight of Bluff City, TN; thirteen grandchildren; and brother, James Sutherland of Wise, VA.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Spencer Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
