CONOVER Sidney Clyde Taylor Sr., 76, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Sidney was born June 5, 1938 in Buena Vista, Ga., to the late Albert Clyde and Colema Hambrick Taylor. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Newton, retired from Lerner Co., and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are his daughter, Natalie Taylor Eilers and husband, Matthew, of Charlotte; son, Sidney Clyde Taylor Jr., of Newton; sisters, Janis Hollar and husband, Ken of Hickory and Ruby Tibbs of Conover; brother, Doug Taylor and wife, Marty of Hickory; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be Thursday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Loyd Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
