Sydney Susan Ellis

Sydney Susan Ellis, 80 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on October 1st, 1945, in Sarasota County, Florida, Sydney was the daughter of the late John Kelly and Florence Sidran Coughlan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James Henry Coughlan and son, Bradley Scott Ellis.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeffry Brotman and wife, Sherilyn Brinkley; daughter, Brandy Ellis and partner, Stephanie Patterson; daughter, Kimberly Ellis and husband, Luis Valladolid; 3 grandchildren, and 1 step-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow the service at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Catawba County in Sydney’s name.
