

HICKORY----Theresa Pennington Houston, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2014 at her residence after a brief illness. Just when the Caterpillar thought the world was over, she got her wings. Theresa was born September 28, 1933 in Newhall, West Va to the late Walter and Bonnie Hogston Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Reeves Pennington in 1990; three daughters, Judy Pennington, Debbie Rowe and Mitzi Nix; brother, Otis Phillips and two sisters, Ruth Hall and Virginia Gibson.She was a lifelong member of Bright Light Tabernacle Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and retired from Hickory Chair.Surviving are her husband, James Houston; son, Reeves “Randy” Pennington, III of Taylorsville; daughters, Sheila Minton of Icard and Patsy Smith of Lenoir; step daughters, Katrina Jones of Yadkinville and Genia Cantrell of Hickory; 20 grandchildren;39 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren sisters, Virgie Yost of Sandusky, Ohio and Brenda Hotson of Tulsa, OK.Services will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 2:00 P. M. at Bright Light Tabernacle with Rev. Ray York officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:45 – 1:45 P.
