HICKORY- Vernia Baker Wright, 86, "Mom" passed on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 12, 1931 in Carter County, TN, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva Harris Baker.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thurman Wright. Mom retired from many years of service at West End BBQ. Survivors include her daughters Judith Isenhour and husband J. R. of Hickory and Tresia Burleson and husband Doug of Morganton; a son Ken Guinn and wife Michele of Hickory; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Hickory Funeral Home with Pastor David Shrum officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
