

Randy was born March 10, 1957 in Anson Co. to Barbara Ennis Ingold Oliver and the late William Ingold.
Randy was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Randy Ingold received degrees from Brevard College and UNC, Greensboro. His 28 years teaching experience included band directorships at Roanoke Rapids, Asheboro, Hickory, Lenoir and the prestigious Punahou Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Ingold also served throughout the Southeastern US as an adjudicator and concert/jazz band clinician. In addition to conducting many all-county and all-district band clinics, he served on the faculty at the UNC-Greensboro Summer Music Camp for twenty years. As a professional clarinetist and saxophonist, he was a member of the band Continental Divide of Charlotte. He also performed with various orchestras, including the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, Asheville Jazz Orchestra and the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/Western Piedmont Symphony, as well as being guest jazz saxophonist for the wedding reception of actress Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe. In 2007, Mr. Ingold was awarded the Brevard College “Alumni of Distinction” Award. Recently, he was also awarded the prestigious “Award of Excellence” from the NWBDA. He was a member of NCMEA, NWBDA, and the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He was currently the director of bands at Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Shumate Ingold, of the home; sons, Ricky Jenkins and wife, Gina of Hickory, Greg Jenkins and wife, Elaine of Blacksburg, VA and Matt Russ of Canton, OH; daughter, Holly Johnson and husband, Matthew of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; mother and step father, Barbara Ennis and Harry Oliver of Drexel; brothers, Patrick Ingold and wife, Angela of Drexel and Timothy Ingold and wife, Susan of Bettendorf, IA; aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Randall Crenshaw of Ansonville, NC; and five nephews.
Services will be Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 2:00 PM at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark Andrews, the Reverend Cindy Wechter and the Reverend David Keck of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church officiating.
Pall Bearers will be members of the CORE Sunday School class of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alexander County Public Education Foundation, 700 Liledoun Road, Taylorsville, N. C. 28681 to establish the Randy Ingold Music Scholarship.
