William Harlan Lynd

William Harlan “Bill” Lynd, 86, of Claremont , NC, formerly of South Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2015 at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory NC. Bill was born October 6, 1928, in Lawrence County, Ohio, to the late William Haskell “Has” and Melvina “Mellie” Lynd. Bill was a retired truck driver. He proudly served his Country in both the US Army and The US Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Peggy Joyce (O’Meara) Lynd, in August of 2014, a son, William Earl Lynd, and one great grandson, Baby Grace Carver and also 3 sisters and 1 brother. Bill is survived by 4 children Greg Lynd (Kathy) of Barboursville, WV. , Tammy Varney (Tom) Huntington, WV. Teresa Runyon (Carlos) South Point, Ohio, Jacky Rikard (Mark) of Claremont NC. , 2 Grandchildren that were raised in the home, Candy Goldie and Earl Lynd, both of Ashland KY., 12 Grandchildren and 25 great grand children and 1 great, great granddaughter. Bill is survived by 3 sisters, Betty Woodruff and Garnet Woodruff, both of South Point, OH, and Alice Bennett of Bennington Vermont.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Bowen Cemetery in Salt Rock, WV.
