William Earl McDaniel

William “Earl” McDaniel, age 76 of Hickory, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Earl was born on April 26, 1938 in Hickory to Walter P. and Grace L. Lane McDaniel and lived in Catawba County his entire life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Earl served his Lord, attending Fairgrove Baptist Church. Earl is survived by his wife, Mary Carolyn McDaniel of Hickory; daughters, Tammy McDaniel Calloway of Weaverville, NC, CoraEllen McKee and fiancé Michael Robert LaPlante of Swannanoa, NC, Lisa McDaniel and fiancé Kenny Brooks of Swannanoa, NC and Tanya Lawter of North Wilkesboro, NC; brother, Paul McDaniel of Hickory; sisters, Mildred Lackey of Hickory and Barbara Carter and husband Tom of Hickory; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; niece, Linda Willis and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Nora and Cora McDaniel and nephew Bobby “Kent” Lackey. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday April 22, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 23 at 10 am at Fairgrove Baptist Church in Hickory with Pastors Neil George and Richard Carter. Burial will follow at Brookford Cemetery.
