Dorothy Walker, of Hicksville, died suddenly. She was 88.
During her lifetime, Dorothy wore many hats. She started her professional career at the Journal American, and continued on to work in accounting and estate law. Her love of music translated well to the dance floor, where she was an avid ballroom dancer.
Dorothy was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Leroy C. Walker, and son-in-law Paul Hillstrom. She is survived by her loving family: sister Ann (Joe) Bono, brother Arthur Halpin, children Jacqueline Ray, Maureen Hillstrom, James Walker and his wife Mary Ellen, grandchildren Moriah (Ken) Britt, Hannah Ray, Meghan (Tony) Covelo, Gregory Hillstrom, Kyle, Wade, Luke and Paige Walker, and great-grandchildren Hannah Marie and Isaac Britt, as well as countless extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday 2-4pm, and 7-9pm at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, Hicksville. Funeral Mass will be 9:45am on Friday, at St. Ignatius Loyola, Hicksville. Burial will follow at Calverton Cemetery.
