Joe was one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He worked  early mornings in a bakery at 14. Installed carpets until evenings in his early 20s. Worked 2 jobs for 3 decades. He helped take care of his parents for many years. 

The reward of retirement for all his efforts would have given him time to travel and spend time with his kids and old friends. May he finally rest and find peace. 

Joe and I have been friends for over 40 years. I was Best Man at his wedding and he was a groomsman in mine. 


Matt, Sean and Rita my deepest sympathy. From the day I met your Dad 30 years ago working for the TA we became the best of friends. I know how much each of you meant to him and how much he loved you. It just breaks my heart knowing he won't be there for you any longer. He truly was the brother I never had. God bless him.

Words can never express the huge loss in my heart . Joe was like a brother to me, my “bonus brother “I called him . His care and concern for others and kindness lives in the spirit of my son in law, Matt who has so many of his Dad’s great qualities including his Dad’s strong work ethic.  
Matt and El, I love you both so much!! I am sending thoughts and prayers for strength  as you grieve  such a huge loss while at the same time you remember  Joe’s life  and such great memories you carry with you always.  
I wish I could be with you all in NY for the days ahead , but I know Joe is smiling from heaven with me keeping  your dogs. He loved Dancer, King and Xena and they loved him. 
Matt, you have so many great  memories of your Dad coming to NC for father/son projects .  I will always remember him and Grandpa Pete traveling  from NY to help you and El move and their adventures (including Grandpa Pete taking a short break from moving to “catch some NC sun rays )“Haha. 
Joe, thank you for loving El as your own and being such an amazing role model ! 
Matt, Sean, Rita, your Dad beamed everything he spoke of you all. He loved you so and then he added his bonus daughters El and Barbara , and his love  was extended even more .  
Thank you for being my bonus brother Joe !! I know heaven is brighter with you there!! I will miss you “number one New Yorker ” !!


I have no idea how to express my sorrow with words.  You will be missed by your family, friends and coworkers.   Rest in peace Joe  🙏🏻🕊
