Joseph R. Ryan

Joseph R. Ryan, age 70, of Plainview, New York, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2024. He was born on March 29, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Alice Ryan. Joseph was the beloved husband of Joanne Ryan, with whom he shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. They met as teenagers at the age of 19 and formed a bond that lasted a lifetime.

Joseph was a devoted dad to his late son, John J. Ryan, who went before him too soon, and a caring father-in-law to Carrie Ryan. He cherished his role as grandpa to Sofia Ryan. Joseph was also a dear brother to John Joseph Ryan.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Joseph recently moved to Long Island to be closer to his son and his family. He was a man of many talents and passions; his keen intellect and love for reading were matched only by his skill in the stock market. Joseph was a resourceful handyman, known for his ability to tackle any project after reading up on it. His self-taught expertise extended to plumbing, carpentry and electrical, a testament to his determination and ingenuity.

Joseph's love for his family knew no bounds. His devotion to his wife, son, and granddaughter was unwavering. He and his son shared a mutual passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, which brought them joy over the years . Joseph had a sweet tooth and took particular pleasure in Twix candies, Strawberry Shortcake, cheesecake, and all things sweet - much like his own gentle and sweet nature.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, New York. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York, where Joseph will be laid to rest.

Joseph will be remembered fondly for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
