Margaret Kelly

Margaret Kelly, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on March 30, 2025. Born on July 5, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, to Lena and Anthony Catapano, Margaret lived a full and vibrant life, cherishing her family and embracing every opportunity for adventure.

She was the beloved wife of over 55 years to the late Kevin P. Kelly, who predeceased her in 2018. Margaret was a devoted mother to Diane (Christopher Barrow), Kevin Kelly (Diane), and Donna (Anthony Kelly). Her love and devotion extended to her cherished grandchildren, Julia Barrow and Kaitlyn Kelly, as well as her adored great-grandson, Michael Halpin. A dear sister to Fred Catapano.

Margaret was known for her lively and youthful spirit. She often joined her children in playing soccer, always up for fun and adventure. Margaret’s love for life was evident in her many hobbies, from building birdhouses to skiing, riding her motorcycle and moped, and exploring new places. One of her favorite adventures was visiting Albuquerque to experience hot air balloon rides.

Margaret was also an avid golfer, known for her signature "low and slow" swing, and a proud member of the Mercy Hospital League, where she found both friendship and fulfillment.

Margaret’s greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a heart full of love and laughter, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 5, 2025, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hicksville, NY. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
