

Michael DiCarlo of Melville, NY and Jupiter, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the age of 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mildred DiCarlo, daughter Michele DeRosa and husband Thomas, and granddaughters Nicole and Isabella Nazzaro. Born August 12, 1945 to the late Vincenzo and Michelina (Palmieri) DiCarlo of Brooklyn, NY, he is the beloved brother of Vincent (Yolanda), Constance Testa (Daniel) and John (Patricia). He joins his brothers Dominick and James, and sisters Rose Cucci and Anna Puglisi in heaven. He is adored by his many nieces and nephews, family and friends. After graduating from High School, Michael joined the Army National Guard where he served for six years. During this same time, Michael started his career as a delivery driver for the family business. From a truck parked at his mother’s home, he delivered cheese products to supermarkets and restaurants throughout Long Island. As the business grew in 1967 a warehouse was built in Shirley and DiCarlo Distributors Inc. introduced pizza shells and frozen pizza to schools. Michael, along with his two older brothers James and Vincent, was instrumental in selling these products. Brother John joined the company in 1970 and as the years passed and the company grew into a broadline foodservice distributor DiCarlo moved to its present location in Holtsville in 1986. Michael became the CFO. With his guidance and with the hard work of a dedicated staff and the next generation of family members the company became the largest foodservice distributor on Long Island. He retired in 2011, but still maintained relationships with customers. Family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2 – 6PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home 125 W. Old Country Road Hicksville. Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Pius X 1 Saint Pius Court Plainview and will be livestreamed. Pandemic protocols will be followed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude’s are greatly appreciated.
