

Mr. Martin was born November 13, 1929 in Charlotte a son of William Clyde and Louise Barbee Martin. A resident of High Point most of his life, he graduated from High Point Central High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Martin was employed at Wagoner Tire Company for twenty-six years and then was owner and operator of Martin Tire Company for eight years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Martin was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church, a Mason and member of Acacia Lodge # 674 AF & AM and was a former member of the High Point Jaycees.
Mr. Martin was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.
On June 12, 1952 he married Peggy Booker, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2008. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, William A. (Bill) Martin and Don Martin.
Surviving are two sons, Chuck Martin and wife Beverly of Asheboro and Curtis Martin of Jamestown, four grandchildren, Skip, Jacob, Brittney and Zach Martin, three step grandchildren; Megan and Blair Farlow and Mallory Trivette three brothers, Harold Martin and wife Betty of High Point, Ed Martin and wife Kathy of High Point and Jim Martin and wife Judy of Tenn., sister-in-law Gloria Martin, a special niece Diane Wilson and husband Mark, and his special friend and care-giver Sharon Weunski.
Burial with military honors will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Emerywood Baptist Church by the Reverend Dr. Robert Ferguson. The family will receive friends following the service in the church gathering space.
