

Gloria Foust Martin died January 3, 2013 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge. She was the daughter of Dewey Forest Foust and Anna Moran Foust. Upon graduating from High Point High School in 1944, she entered High Point College to study Primary Education. During her sophomore year she became sick with tuberculosis and spent 18 months at the Guilford County Sanitarium in Jamestown, NC. On December 10, 1949 she married William A. “Bill” Martin and she completed her education at High Point College graduating in 1950. She was President of Theta Phi Sorority her senior year and Homecoming queen her junior year. She taught school at Jack n Jill’s in High Point and worked Tuesdays with her mother, Anna Foust, her brother James Dewey Foust and her husband “Bill” in the operation of D F. Foust Livestock in Greensboro. In 1978 Gloria and her husband Bill formed Bill Martin Livestock also located in Greensboro. On July 2, 1986 her husband of 36 years passed away and on December 19, 1987 Gloria decided to close Bill Martin Livestock and went to work with Baker Furniture in their showroom before moving to River Landing. She was preceded in death by her son, William F. “Little Bill” Martin, her parents D. F. Foust and Anna Foust and her brother James Dewey Foust. Gloria is survived by her son, Jeffrey A. Martin and wife Vicki of Thomasville, grandchildren Courtney Martin Crouse and husband Jonathan, Justin A. Martin and wife Betsy, Lee Martin, Lane Martin and Laura Martin McPherson. Great grandchildren Ansley Crouse, Corbin Crouse, Ivory McPherson and Dean McPherson. Brother-in-laws Ed and wife Kathy Martin, Harold and wife Betty Martin, Jim and wife Judy Martin along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8pm-Saturday at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point and the funeral service will be Sunday at 1:00 pm in the Sechrest Chapel with burial following at Guilford Memorial Park, Sedgefield, NC.
