
Harvey Ashby Barnett, Jr. died on February 27, 2015 at River Landing. He left peacefully after three years of rehabilitation for a massive stroke. Surviving him are his sons Harvey III and his wife June, Dan and his wife Carrie, and Jeff and his wife Mary along with 6 grandchildren. Harvey and the children were preceded in death by his wife and their mother, Barbara Ambrose Barnett who died in 2003. He is survived as well by his present wife, Nancy Warren Barnett along with her daughters and their husbands, Stacey and Scott Toben, and Kristen and Steve O’Connell and 2 grandchildren.
Harvey was born in 1941 to Harvey Barnett, Sr. and his wife Ruth of Arlington, Va. both of whom are deceased. After growing up in Arlington, he had further education at both The University of Wyoming and The Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU). Shortly after marrying Barbara in 1963 and working as an interior designer for Woodward and Lothrop in D.C. the two moved to Greensboro where he was employed as a designer with Colonial Furniture. From there he was subsequently employed at Alma Desk, Globe Furniture, and The Pearson Company, all in High Point. Later he left design and had a very successful career as a sales representative for manufacturers of home furnishing textiles, Sunbury Textile Mill and Regal Fabrics. Both Harvey and his late wife, Barbara, were longtime members of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point.
Harvey was loved by all of his family members, and his friendship was cherished by both friends and his business associates and customers. Possessing an infectious sense of humor, he always raised the spirits of any gathering. His passing will be mourned by many. A memorial gathering, “A Time of Remembrance” will be held at River Landing at Sandy Ridge on March 14 at 4:00 P.M.
