

Helen Agnew Koonce passed away at Hospice Home in High Point, NC on May 24, 2013. She was born in Burkeville, Va, on October 14, 1929 to James Stuart Agnew and Elizabeth Bostick Agnew. She was raised at Inverness Farm in Burkeville and graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She came to High Point, NC in 1951 to work in the office of Dr. M. B. Leath and was married to Arnold Koonce Jr. on November 21, 1953.
Helen’s interests were many and varied, and her love and dedication to her family was her life-long pursuit. Her gentle spirit, kind and compassionate touch, grand sense of humor and generous works will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Pre-deceased brothers and sisters are J. P. Agnew (Perk), W. T. Agnew (Bill), Mrs. M. B. Leath (Lillian), Mrs. Maurice S. Rosenberg (Betty). Surviving her are her husband Arnold, three daughters, Elizabeth M. Koonce, Susan K. Hinnant, Martha K. Redmond and her husband, Jobie Redmond, Jr., and 5 grand-children, Samuel, John, Sarah, and Joseph Hinnant, and MacLean Redmond.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday , May 28, 2013, at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church in High Point. There will be no visitation and interment will be private.
Arrangements are by Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to High Point Regional Hospital Foundation, 601 North Elm Street, High Point NC 27262 or Hospice Home in High Point, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point NC 27262.
