Hilda was born in High Point, January 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Willis and Hylie Stewart Byerly. She was a loving mother to six children, enjoyed gardening and the beach. Hilda loved to dance in her younger days and enjoyed spending time reading and relaxing with her cats. Later in life, she obtained her CNA license and enjoyed working with Alzheimer's patients through home health care. Hilda was preceded in death by her son, Mike Branch. She was known as Mom, Nanny, Little Grandma, Granny and Ma.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Solomon and husband Ted; four sons, Jeffrey Branch and wife Denise, Andy Branch, Allen Branch and wife Olinda and Jim Steed and wife Dana; thirteen grandchildren, Shorty, Tommy, Hollie, Nicholas, Kinza, Jeffrey, C.J., Knoah, Zouiey, Tori, Hudson, Harper and Emery; fifteen great-grandchildren and her beloved four legged friend, Scamper.
A Celebration of Hilda's life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Randy Carroll. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. and at other times the home of Jeffrey and Denise Branch. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice of the Piedmont.
