James Franklin Ramsey

James Franklin Ramsey, 84, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. Jim was born on April 13, 1938, In Forsyth County to Joseph Wendell Ramsey and Eunice Robinson Ramsey. For a large part of his childhood, Jim and his siblings were raised at the Barium Springs Home for Children. After graduating from high school, he served four years in the Air Force. He then attended High Point College (University) and graduated in 1965 with a degree in business.

On June 11, 1961, Jim married Carlene Wood.

Jim found the profession he loved in real estate. He opened his own company, Ramsey Co., REALTORS, in 1969 and never retired. He was a member of the Old Town Lions Club and the North Carolina Realtors Association. He and Carlene attended Parkway Presbyterian Church.

Jim loved people and had genuine interest and care for them. His favorite outside interests included spending time with his family, time at his home in Sparta, NC, beach trips, and attending reunions with his Barium Springs brothers and sisters.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter Allie Blink, one sister, and two brothers.

Surviving Jim are his wife Carlene; his daughter Julie Blink; his grandsons Avery Blink and Owen Blink (fiancé Brooklyn Mounce); his sister Margaret Herman; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jim will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10:30 am to 11:45 am at Vogler Funerals and Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston Salem, NC 27106. Following the visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm in Vogler’s Chapel. Rev. Dr. Thom Burleson officiating.
