

Janet Blair Kirkman, 83, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home in High Point following several years of declining health. Her devotion to her family and deep faith in God supported her and brought her peace. Janet was born in High Point, November 15, 1933, a daughter of the late William Ivey Blair and Lucille Clodfelter Blair. She attended High Point Central High School, then worked for Pilot Life Insurance Company. In 1956 she became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she married her husband and later served as Immaculate Heart of Mary School librarian for many years. She and husband Thomas celebrated their 60th anniversary in June, 2016 with her family. Janet had a wonderful talent for art, and enjoyed painting, drawing and cross-stitch. She loved children and found great joy, peace and hope in their laughter, imagination, and playful honesty. She greatly treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Janet held a deep love and compassion for animals, adopting and caring for many pets through the years. Janet is survived by her husband, Thomas Carlton Kirkman, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Lisa Kimberly Sliwa of Illinois; three sons, Thomas Carlton Kirkman, III of High Point, William Steven Kirkman and wife Donna of Apex, and Christopher Flemming Kirkman and wife Carol of Gibsonville; three grandchildren, Lindsay Nicole and Caitlin Michelle Sliwa, and Emma Lorynn Kirkman; a great grandson, Riley Pavol Gencik; two sisters, Patricia Blair Smith, Jane Blair Tucker and husband Jerry; a brother Bill Blair Jr. and wife Sheila. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Deacon Wally Haarsgaard. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont.
