She is survived by her life partner Ray Menke. She was the mother of Phoenix Brown, the daughter of Walter and Bambi Brown, sister of London, Ash-Leigh, Savannah Brown, and granddaughter of David and Mae Brown.
Jessica (Jes’c) lived in Greensboro most of her life. At age fourteen Jes’c participated in President Eisenhower's People to People Ambassador Program for middle and high school age students. Her two weeks in Australia was a great learning experience for one so young and lead her to grow into a life long animal advocate. She moved to Washington state with her first long-term partner, Brandon, in 2004 and was joined by her daughter Phoenix in 2005. She volunteered at The Rainbow House – Life Ties, a 24-hour residential group home for youth ages 12-21 with emotional, medical, and behavioral health challenges sharing her artistic talents as art therapy with residences. The three of them lived there until 2008 when they moved back to her hometown and shortly after met her life partner Ray. She was a passionate artist and expressed herself in various media especially in her painting. Jes’c had a very inquisitive mind and used many resources to answer her never ending questions. Her door was always open to help anyone in need. She loved animals and at various times homed a flying squirrel, rabbits, ferrets, cats, her pet rats and numerous others. Jes’c loved many and was loved and will be greatly missed by a menagerie of friends, relatives and pets.
There will be a private service at a later date.
