John Charles Rush

JC attended Guilford College and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1950 with a degree in political science and earned his law degree from UNC in 1956.

JC served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and in the Korean War. He was released from active duty and then served in the U.S. Army reserves as a Commissioned Officer from 1954 to 1964.

He was employed as the Deputy Commissioner for NC Industrial Commission from 1971 until his retirement in 1993. JC was a member of numerous fraternal organizations and associations including: the Wake County Bar Assoc; NC Bar Assoc; American Bar Assoc; and the 10th Judicial District Bar. He was a life member of the UNC Chapel Hill Alumni Assoc. and the Friends of Guilford College; Alpha Phi Omega, Delta Theta Phi, and Sigma Chi. He was also a life member of NC Nature Conservancy; NC Zoological Society; and NC Wildlife Federation. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Carolina football and basketball.

JC is survived by his wife Ruby Soles Rush; step-daughter, Wanda Price Fox and husband Michael K. Fox; cousins Richard Kerr & wife Carolyn; Roma Colglazier & husband Merle, Ann Levina, O.B. Levina and wife Barbara, Zandi Mostert, JoAnn Vuncannon and husband Darrell.

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, November 28, graveside at Guilford Memorial Cemetery in Greensboro with Reverend Paul McClure of Rehobeth Methodist Church officiating.
