Joseph was an Army veteran. He married the love of his life, Hester Shelton, on February 16, 1952. He worked as an electrician for Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Company for 30 years. A quiet, reserved man who made heart connections with his bags of candy for his Glenola Baptist Church children, where he was proud to be a member, Deacon, and a former Sunday school teacher.
Joseph was a man of many talents. He was happy to be in the garden, working with taxidermy projects, raising small animals for his family, hummingbirds, and often leaving a trail of shavings as he whittled on his woodcarvings.
Joseph is survived by his daughters, Labreeska Owens, Montise Owens; and son, Joseph C. Owens, Jr.; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service to honor his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6th, at Glenola Baptist Church in Archdale, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Glenola Baptist Church, 8330 Hwy 311, Archdale, NC, 27263.
