Josephine Underwood Allen

Josephine Underwood Allen, 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born in Clio, Alabama where she lived most of her life before moving to High Point. Josephine was a daughter of Dorothy Mae Beauchamp Underwood and William Underwood.

She attended First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point which she loved dearly. Her family and friends will always remember and cherish Josephine with her beautiful smile and willingness to serve in any capacity she was needed. Ms. Allen also served on the missionary and kitchen committees and was a faithful member of the Sunday School department.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sister, Lu-Ellen Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are survivors including her god daughter and special care giver, Judy Hayes and husband Joey; fiancé and soul mate Charles Warren who took such good care of her; sister, Dorothy Anderson and husband (William) of Arlington Texas, (Aunt) Johnnie Lee Danforth of Cinn. Ohio, (Aunt) Annette Bryant of Pontiac Michigan, (Uncle) James Underwood of Alabama, cousin Charlene Hamlin of High Point, N.C. and a dear life-long friend, Mrs. Louise Haywood who took great care of her throughout the years.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Westchester Manor for their care and support during Josephine’s four month stay and would also like to thank Dr. Williford and the staffs at Hayworth Cancer Center and ICU at UNC High Point Regional.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2017 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, officiated by Pastor Ray N. Campbell.

Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Ms. Allen will lie in state from noon until 2:00 PM. The family will have visitation thirty minutes prior to the funeral service at the church.
