
Kermit David Keever, 92, passed away January 29, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in High Point, NC on June 4, 1921 to the late Hubert Calvin and Hattie Garner Keever. He is preceded in death by siblings George Donald (1925 – 1997) and Christine Rebecca (1927 – 2011). Kermit graduated from Denton High School, in Denton, NC and went on to serve in the Army during World War II in the 9th Armored Division, which captured the Ludendorff railroad bridge at Remagen, Germany. He married Ruth Harrell September 25, 1949 who passed away May 3, 2005. Kermit and Ruth resided in Cocoa, FL; Rock Hill, SC; High Point, NC; Oak Island, NC and Grand Rapids, MI during their married life.
Kermit is survived by brother, Bill Forest and sister-in-law Roetta (Roswell, New Mexico); sister-in-law Linda Harrell (High Point, NC); daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and John Price (Winston-Salem, NC); grandchildren Amanda Price (Winston-Salem, NC); Jackson Price (Arlington, VA) and many nieces and nephews.
Kermit was a member of the First Reformed Church of Christ in High Point. He enjoyed watching sporting events, especially his favorites, the Atlanta Braves, the University of North Carolina basketball teams and NASCAR driver Richard Petty. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 15th at 12:00 noon, at Floral Gardens Cemetery in High Point, NC. A reception for friends and family to share memories will follow the graveside service and will be held at J. H. Adams Inn in High Point at 1:00 pm. Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point is officiating over arrangements.
