

Marilyn Jane Kirms (nee McDonnell), age 83, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 16, 2013. Marilyn was the beloved wife of Frederick O. Kirms for 62 years. She was the loving mother of 3 children and their spouses: Karen and Sandy Palmer; Mark and Lynn Kirms; and Holly and David Labiak. She had 5 grandchildren whom she loved deeply: Sarah and Dan Wiszkon; Mallory Kirms; and Peyton and Reagan Labiak. Her family circle was completed by her great granddaughter Hannah Wiszkon. Marilyn is also survived by her sister Jean Schmidt; sister-in-law Mary McDonnell; and 6 nieces and nephews and their spouses. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Adeline McDonnell; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Eugene Cook; brother-in-law John Schmidt; and brother Paul McDonnell. Marilyn loved the Atlanta Braves, The Gaithers, Survivor and The Amazing Race. Above all, Marilyn spent her life caring for and loving her own family and the children of others through her work in education in New York, Indiana, and Tennessee. Marilyn’s family would especially like to thank all of those who cared for her in the ICU of High Point Regional Hospital. Marilyn’s family asks that any contributions be made generously to the charity of your choice.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 26th at 1:30 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church of High Point. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 - 7:30p.m.
