Martha Thornbrough Hanes

HIGH POINT – MARTHA THORNBROUGH HANES, 98, of High Point, NC, passed away on May 25th, 2017. She was born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on November 21st, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Minnie Thornbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband Stacie J. Hanes, and her two brothers James and Lucien Thornbrough.

She was retired from Wachovia Bank and Trust in High Point, after 32 dedicated years of service. She was also a lifetime member of BPOE Ladies Auxiliary of High Point.

She is survived by her daughter Becky Johnson and husband Jerry of Carolina Beach, NC, and her son Mark Hanes of High Point, NC. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Trevor and Cory Hanes of High Point, NC; Nicki Talbert Ryan of Chantilly, VA; and Jay Talbert (Jenni) of Atlanta, GA; and her great-grandchildren Conner, Kendrick, and Emerson Ryan; and Eliza and Jack Talbert III.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

A memorial service for Martha will be held on June 3rd, 2017 at 3:30pm at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point, 1301 East Lexington Avenue, High Point, NC.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
