Patsy was born in Liberty, February 24, 1936, a daughter of the late Willie Hardin Sams and Ruth Campbell Sams. A resident of High Point her entire life, she retired from Hayworth Roll and Panel after many years of service. Patsy was a faithful and obedient member of Oakgrove Baptist Church, now West Fairfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, J. A. Key and a brother, Bobby Sams. Patsy loved her family, gardening, animals, cooking and caring for children.
Surviving are three sons, Johnny Key and his wife Karen, Donald Key and his wife Donna and Gary Key; three grandchildren, Jessica Martinez and her husband Rudy, Brian Key and his wife Brittany and Joey Key; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister, Peggy Davis; a brother, Bill Sams and his wife Chris; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Patsy's life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Sechrest Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark Mosley. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Key will lie in state at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
