Paul William Surratt went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 28, 2011. Paul, born July 7, 1915 in Davidson County to the late Cauley and Sadie Surratt, was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Surratt, his life-long best friend. Paul’s wife, Beatrice Gray Surratt of 59 years passed away in 1996, a union that was blessed and to be envied. Dad so honored our mother during her illness- an example of great love and devotion. An extremely kind and loving father, survived by three daughters that will greatly miss him; Linda Rose and husband Donald of Archdale, Joyce Coe and husband Don of Sophia, and Carol Ellington and husband John of Trinity; six grandchildren, Craig Rose and wife Crystal of High Point, Todd Rose and wife Laura of Brown Summit, Steven Coe and wife Cheryl of Randleman, Stephanie Williams and husband Jim of Trinity, Dana Ellington of Trinity, who affectionately called him her hero; and Dr. Kent Ellington of Charlotte. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Cameron Rose, Kaelah and Noah Coe, Hannah Williams, and Julia Ellington.
He will be remembered for his sweet spirit and the kindness and grace he extended to everyone. He served in 9th Infantry division in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Battle of the Bulge and Germany Campaigns with decorations.
The family would like to thank the Graybrier Nursing Center staff. Dad’s nurses and CNA’s were exceptional in their caring love and kindness to dad and to us as well. Thank you, God’s Blessings !
