

Perry was born in Draper, VA, November 18, 1928, a son of the late Ambrous and Lucy Dalton Phillips. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as a fireman. Perry retired from Styrex Industries as a tool and die maker after 43 years of service. He was an active member of Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church, serving as past president of the Wesleyan Men’s Fellowship and serving on the church board of both Ennis St. and Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Churches. Perry was a devout Christian who loved his family deeply and enjoyed serving anyone in need. He especially enjoyed yard sales and fishing. Perry was preceded in death by his son, Perry F. Phillips, Jr., three sisters, Velma Kirk, Mary Lee Henry and Maggie Hancock; and a brother, David Phillips. Perry married Peggy Manning of Pulaski, VA, November 20, 1953, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years is a daughter, Debi Bean and devoted husband Bill; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Perry’s Life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church by Rev. James Capps. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church or to Hospice of Randolph County.
