She was a native of Guilford and a daughter of the late Gurney York and Eva Arnett Price. Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of Russell Street Grill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. L. Gibson.
Sylvia is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Colegrove and Kimberly Gibson; one son, Robert Gibson; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and four sisters, Bonnie Allred, Patty Jernigan, Elizabeth Wilson and Delores Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. David Perry. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the funeral home.
