

Thomas was born in High Point on Feb. 25, 1964 to Thomas Carey Ilderton, Jr. and Sandra Carter Ilderton. He graduated from High Point Central High School in 1982 and attended Pfeiffer College. His business career included fifteen years with McEwen Lumber Company in sales and as a warehouse manager and locally he was with Ilderton Motor Company for thirteen years in the sales department.
His family was of utmost importance to him, as he loved his time with them at Sullivans Island, S.C. and at Wild Wing Farm. He was a true sportsman in fishing and hunting events. Thomas was an avid Duke Basketball fan as well as a Carolina Panthers fan. He especially enjoyed supporting his daughter in her activities in High Point Friends Athletics. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and was dedicated to his mother and father as well as his entire extended family. Even his special Labrado , “Savannah” was the object of much affection. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Carey Ilderton, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Wilkins Ilderton of the home, who he married on January 21, 1989. Also surviving are his daughter; Madeleine A. Ilderton and his son, Thomas Carey Ilderton, IV both of High Point; his Mother, Sandra Carter Ilderton of High Point; his paternal grandparents; T. Carey and Eleanor Condon Ilderton of High Point, and his maternal grandfather, David L. Carter of High Point.
Thomas has two sisters, Mary Ilderton Briggs of High Point and Condon Ilderton Smith and her husband Scott of High Point, and one brother, Carter Ilderton of Charlotte.
Other family members include his Mother-in-Law; Isabelle Hearn of Winston-Salem, Sister-in-Law; Jill Wilkins Walker of Winston-Salem, and Brother-in-Law, Alan Walker of Winston-Salem. There are five nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Joseph C. Zuschmidt, O.S.F.S. and Reverend Father Vincent E. Smith, O.S.F.S. , Celebrants.
Following the Mass, Mr. Ildeton’s cremains will be placed in the Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue Friday evening from 6 until 7:00 p.m.
