

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Elmer James and Elsie Heath James.
He is survived by his son, William Edwin James, Jr.; daughter, Emily James Malcolm; son-in-law, William Malcolm; grandsons, Cooper and Myles Patterson; granddaughters, Hannah and Ella Patterson; sister, Sandra James Miller.
Edwin was an inspiration to everyone he met. He was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial UMC. He enjoyed time with friends, fishing, golfing and spending time out on the water. He loved and adored his children and grandchildren. He was proud to have been an officer in the US Army and served time in Vietnam. He worked for 3M for 33 years and sold the first product that 3M manufactured, coated abrasives (sandpaper to the everyday person). He would do anything to serve others and bring joy to their lives, including being very active with Helping Hands Ministry.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Sechrest Funeral Service.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, August 15, 2016 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
