Loving wife of the late Jerry Smades and dear companion of the late Tom Mitchell, cherished mother of Tracy Dunning, Dawn Lindsey, Chris Smades, Clay (Katy) Smades, Karen Porter, Cyndi (Bill) Chobot and Geri Lynn (Keith) Brutz; proud grandmother of many grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Betty Kawa, Kay Hawes and Jean Lindsey. Barb, the President of The Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9914 and member of FOE Ladies Auxiliary 4046 can be remembered for the 25 plus years of dedicated service as Bartender at the “V”. She is also remembered for the many years she worked at Highland Lanes where she could be found doing everything from snack bar and shoe rental to resetting a stuck lane. Funeral Service Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10 am at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home 3295 East Highland Rd. The family will welcome friends Thursday 2-8 pm. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Ladies Auxiliary Post 9914 Highland Michigan.
