Charles E. Schell

Charles “Chuck” E. Schell passed away in peace Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the age of 88. Chuck was born in Chicago, IL to Charles and Catherine Schell. He went to DePaul Academy, received his Bachelors in Chemistry at DePaul University and a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. He worked at American Can company in Barrington, IL, Eugene Dietzgen company in Chicago, IL and Elkhart, IN and at PCI in Walled Lake, MI where he retired in 1994. He was recognized for his years of service to the Diazo industry. He loved music, bridge, golf and traveling with his family.

Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Schell; his children: Bill (Cathy), Dan, Ken (Kathy), and Melissa (Larry) Ruff; his grandchildren: Brittani (Brian), Brandon (Lexi), Joshua (Jess), Joseph, Michael (Blaemelyn), Matthew (Crystal), Lauren, Jessica and Nicholas; his great-grandchildren: Riley, Kaylee, Izabel, Emma, Scarlett, Nolan, Liam, Lydia, Lena, Courtney, Addyson, Emma, Valentina and Michael. Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter: Susan (John) Doman; sons: Terry and Tim (Dana); grandson: Christopher; and brothers: James (Helen) and Robert (Ruth).

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake. The family will receive friends in the back of the church from 10:00am until the time of the service. Father Thomas Meagher to officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one’s choice.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration of life will continue in the summer of 2021.
