Elizabeth Ann Jansen

Elizabeth Ann Jansen, age 80 of Highland, Michigan, passed away on May 23, 2023. Beth believed in the golden rule—the old adage of treating others as you would want to be treated. She lived this philosophy by being kind, compassionate, patient, generous, encouraging, and very loving. The golden rule lived on in Beth's devoted care of her family, animals and many kids she taught throughout the years. Decades of children benefitted from Beth's wisdom in the forty years she served as a school teacher with the Berkley School System. Her belief in the value of showing respect to every living creature even stretched beyond the human realm to her love of animals. Beth owned a farm where, through out the years, she cared for many horses, dogs and cats, all whom she loved dearly. Beth was part of the Oakland County Sheriffs Mounted Division for years.

She will be missed by her daughter Ruth (John) Shell and her sister Ruth (Gerald) Krosnicki. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Beth was preceded in death by her husband Richard.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment of the ashes will follow in Highland Twp. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
