Beloved husband of Joan for 37 years. Dear step-father of Julie Negus, Amy (the late James) Schang and the late Darin Negus. Proud grandfather of Jessica (Michael) Wilmont, Patrick Schang, Daniel (Dina Daul) Schang and the late Danielle Waling. Treasured great-grandfather of Trace, Evon, Abbigayle, Darianna, Waylan, Josiah, Jaylee, Landon and Mia. Brother of Carlene (Doug) Wardlow and the late Patrick Dacey and Betty Hopkins. He is also survived by nephews Don Hopkins(Holly), Kevin Wardlow(KC), Ryan Wardlow(Tristan)and nieces Debbie Pilcher(Lyndon), Teresa Milby, Christina Dacey.
Ernie was a member of the VFW Post 9914, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4076 and the Highland Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed building train sets and railroad tracks, golfing, boating and traveling. He was a fun loving guy who also liked motorcycles and old cars. He will be very much missed by all.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road. In recognition of Ernie's service to our country, military honors will be performed at 6:00pm Saturday evening.
