Margaret Jeanne Russell

Margaret Jeanne Russell (née Hoag) passed away on December 14, 2025, in Brighton, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born in Detroit on October 23, 1944, Margaret lived a life marked by nurturing love for her family and friends, characterized by her gentle and easygoing nature.

Before her retirement, Margaret was a dedicated wardrobe assistant at MGM Casino, where her keen eye for detail and organization shone. Her hobbies included bowling, where she competed in various tournaments, and creating various crafts. She was also a wonderful cook, known especially for her kielbasa and kraut, pot roast dinners, and homemade apple pies. Margaret cherished visits to the family cabin built by her grandparents, frequent trips to Tawas to stop by G's Pizza and Marion's, and had a special love for ice cream.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Donald Russell; daughters, Darlene Miller, Renee Sroka, Heather (William) Butchart, Holly (Gregory) Glowacki, and step-daughter Debora Pinion (Martin); grandchildren, Janice (Justin) Coit, Wes (Ange) Varbedian, Meghann (Kegan) Miller, Brandon Butchart, and Aubrey Glowacki; and great-grandchildren, Madeline Cook, Brooklynn Coit, and Landin Coit. She also leaves behind beloved sisters, Patricia (James) Klynstra, Dorothy (Paul) Reichert, Colleen (the late Terrance) Wolf, and Christine (Matthew) Perkins; stepbrother, Edsel (Patricia) Cox; and her best friend, Betty Schornack and her family. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Cox and Orville Hoag; stepfather, Edsel Cox; sister Barbara Bullen, and other beloved family members.

Services to honor Margaret's life will include a visitation at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland, MI 48356. A sharing of memories will be on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at 4:00 pm, with visitation hours from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Margaret, honoring her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
