Born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 16, 1959, to Jay Sandow and Pricilla Boyd, Phil was a proud graduate of Pontiac High School, Class of 1978. He was a man of intelligence, grit, and unwavering determination. His strong work ethic led him into a successful career, first in Branson as a Senior Sales Engineer for 14 years, and later as Vice President of Sales at
Telsonic Ultrasonics, where he dedicated nearly 17 years. Phil never retired—his passion for his work and the people he met along the way kept him going.
Over the years, Phil formed deep and lasting friendships—friends who became family and stood by him during his courageous battle with cancer. Their support meant the world to him. Phil had a magnetic personality and was known for his love of good conversation (often over a strong drink) and a spirited debate. He was unapologetically strong-willed, loyal to those he loved, and never one to shy away from sharing his opinion.
He found his greatest joy outdoors—spending summer days on Lake St. Clair, boating and
socializing with his beloved marina neighbors. Winter brought new adventures: snowmobiling in northern Michigan and backpacking through the Upper Peninsula. One of his favorite places was his best friend Kirk’s cabin in Glennie, where memories were made over campfires, cocktails, and camaraderie. Phil especially cherished introducing his granddaughters, Sidney and Macie, to the traditions of deer camp.
Phil is survived by his stepmother, Margaret Sandow; his brother, James Sandow; and his sisters, Michelle Gulledge (Dean) and Jackie Howard (Matt). He also leaves behind his beloved sons, Eric (Jenny) and Phillip (Kara); and his cherished grandchildren: Sidney, Macie, Isabella, Annalise, and Braydon.
Phil’s legacy is one of resilience, loyalty, and love of life’s simple pleasures—friends, nature, and a good drink in hand.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to
share stories, laughter, and honor the remarkable man he was.
