He was born in Cook County, Illinois on December 30, 1942 to Frank and Jennie “Castello” Nanna. He was the youngest of his four siblings: Paul Nanna, Frank (Connie) Nanna, Marie (Jack) Sparks, and Anita (Mel) Pitham. He married the love of his life, Janice Gayle McCartney on September 26,1964. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2011. They were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Nanna (Roosevelt Park, MI) and a son Anthony Joseph Nanna (Norton Shores, MI).
Tony shined the brightest in his role of Papa/Pops to his beloved grandchildren; Jordan Sabo (Greenbush, MI), Sara Sabo (North Muskegon,MI), and Jacob Nanna (Norton Shores,MI). He was remarried to Linda (Bradfield) Nanna on June 2018. He took great pride in serving our country in the Army National Guard as well as when he served the City of Roosevelt Park as a part-time Police Officer. The Muskegon Papermill received the benefit of the majority of his strong work ethic for he worked there for 39 years as an auto and diesel mechanic and welder.
Tony’s creativity and quality craftsmanship in woodworking created many special gifts for those he loved. His friendliness extended to every person he met from the bank teller to the baker at Meijers. He loved to tell stories just like his father. He could fix anything and worked hard helping family, friends and neighbors. He constantly smiled and absolutely loved to laugh and be silly. After retirement, car shows and car clubs brought many close friends and good times into his life as he displayed his 1962 Galaxie 500 XL.
A celebration of life will be held in Muskegon at a later date when friends and family can gather.
