

He was a proud veteran of the US Army and served during World War II taking part in the D-Day invasion, landing on Normandy beach on June 6, 1944, and also the Battle of the Bulge. Tony retired from the bakery business and later served as a bus driver for the Zeeland Public Schools.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife Doris and son Thomas. He is survived by his wife Jane (Huitsing), and six children; Marylou Ten Harmsel of Jenison, Nancy (Lloyd) Cook of Holland, Randy (Peggy) Ten Harmsel of Zeeland, John (Gracie) Huitsing of Joplin, MO, Dr. Henry (Joanne) Huitsing of Grosse Point Park, and Gloria (Kim) Edgel of Holland. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Tony is also survived by in-laws Hermina Ten Harmsel, Franny Huizinga, Ben and Maryjane Huizinga, Hank and Sandy Huizinga, Heero and Klasien Huitsing, Gerrit and Jean Huitsing, and Hans and Tiny Huitsing along with many nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be on Friday, June 12th from 6-8 p.m. at Lakeshore Memorial Services located at 11939 James St. in Holland. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 13th at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Haven Christian Reformed Church, located at 541 Alice St. in Zeeland. The pastor of Tony’s home church, North Street Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Shaun Furniss will preside.
