David “Dave” Allen Beverwyk, age 83, of West Olive, Michigan, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born on December 25, 1942, in Holland, Michigan, Dave lived a life marked by steady devotion—to family, to community, and to the everyday work of doing things well.
Dave was the son of Simon Beverwyk and Marian Beverwyk, both of whom preceded him in death. Raised in Holland alongside two brothers and a sister, he carried with him a deep-rooted connection to the place and people who shaped his early years. He graduated from Holland High in 1961.
After graduation, Dave spent time in the National Guard, where he attained the rank of Sargent. He was also part of the American Legion. In his working life, Dave served as the parts manager for VerHage of Holland, a role he held with pride and consistency until retiring at the age of 57.
On October 14, 1965, Dave married his lovely wife, Grace Ann Beverwyk. Together, they welcomed their first child in 1968 and went on to have three more children in the years that followed. Dave and Ann had just celebrated 60 years together—years filled with enduring partnership and unforgettable memories.
Anyone who knew Dave knew he loved cars. Some of the family’s greatest memories were made during trips to their cabin in the Upper Peninsula, where time slowed down and the focus returned to what mattered most—being together—while Dave enjoyed reading his car magazines. Another cherished memory was the week Dave and Julie spent camping in Bristol, TN, to watch the Bristol NASCAR race.
Dave also took special joy in helping his sons with their scout’s pine cars. He built them from the ground up, even breaking one of Ann’s nail accessories along the way. His care and attention paid off—Jeff and Chris both won their pine car races, and the family was invited to meet Richard Petty after a picture was seen of the pine car Dave had made and modeled after NASCAR cars.
Dave was an active member of Beachwood Church in Holland for many years before attending Community Reformed Church in his later years.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Simon Beverwyk; his mother, Marian Beverwyk; his brother, Rodger (Carol) Beverwyk; his brother, Don Beverwyk; his son, Jeff Beverwyk; and his grandchild, Jacob Merlino. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Beverwyk; his sister, Sandra (Chuck) Goulooze; His sister-in-law, Marilyn Beverwyk; his daughter, Julie (Wayne) Beverwyk; his sons, Chris (Rachel) Beverwyk and Brent (Lisa) Beverwyk; and also leaves 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
