David Allen Lawrence

David Lawrence, age 82, of Holland, was welcomed home into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. David loved Jesus, and that love shined brightly through him. He was a man who loved with his whole heart and shared his love with his warm smiles, and his great big hugs. He enjoyed spending time with family, and friends, going to car shows with his ’62 Impala that he and his son Dan spent time restoring, listening to music, and snuggling with his beloved Miss Kitty. David loved children, especially his grandchildren, but would often become the honorary Grandfather to many other children that wanted him for their Grandpa as well. David loved to make people laugh by telling a joke or just by being his silly self. He was kind, and generous to all who knew him. David loved candy and other sweets, and would always have something to offer anyone who visited him. He loved to share his treats! He was deeply loved, and will be missed so much.

David is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rosalie (Brower) Lawrence, son - Curtis Lawrence, parents - George and Frances (Purdy) Lawrence, brothers - Arthur, George, and Walter, sisters - Madge, Margie, and Nellie, as well as several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews.

Surviving are his son- Daniel Lawrence, daughters - Kathie and Steve Meyer, and Bonnie and Chad Schuitema, grandchildren- Nicole and John Smallegan, Riley Schuitema, Jami Meyer, and Erica Schuitema, sisters and brothers - Ruth and Harvey VanderBie, Minnie and Larry Prins, Larry Lawrence, Charles and Joyce Lawrence, Steve Lawrence, Claudia and Bill Schippers, Peggy and Joe Zerba, Ken Lawrence, Doris and Daryl VandenBosch, Joe and Deb Lawrence, sisters in law - Phyllis Elhart, Terri and Dave VanderPloeg, Barb Brower, brother in law - Jack Barton, Alvin and Muriel Brower, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 9 at 11:00 am at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St, Holland MI 49424. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, August 8 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland MI 49423.
