Elsie was born in Holland and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a devoted mother of five children, and a Registered Nurse, spending most of her career working at Holland Hospital. She graduated from Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing and attended Hope College; Elsie was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Elsie and her husband John led an active lifestyle; traveling overseas, taking an Alaskan cruise, and traveling down to FL in their RV for the winter. They had an extensive garden and were often seen riding their bikes or walking in the Maplewood area. Elsie was a constant visitor at the ballpark when John was either playing or umping softball. For decades, they were season ticket holders to Hope athletics – very rarely missing a basketball game. Elsie was also an avid reader and birder, and passed those attributes on to a few of her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Weeber Jr. (2007), and all of her 8 brothers; Deward (Duke); Ted, Peter, John, Simon (Bud), Frank, Chet and Allen.
She is survived by her children, Nicholas (Barb) Weeber, Phyllis (Gary) Scholten, David (Mary) Weeber, Grace (Bruce) Pommerening, and Margaret Weeber; 14 grandchildren; 23 Great-Grandchildren; Sister-in-law Anna Mae Piersma; care-giver and great niece, Kate O’Connor Haverdink and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
